Now You See Him Now You Don?t
When I was working as a secretary, I used to share a room with one of the managers whose workstation was just behind mine. When he talked on the phone, he had this habit of tilting his chair back and forth and resting his feet on the desk drawer.
One fine morning, I was talking to him when his phone rang. So I turned around to return to my typing. Suddenly I heard a loud crash behind me. I immediately swung my chair around to see what happed. There was nobody! so I quickly stood up and found my poor manager had fallen head over heels from his chair!
He must have felt so embarrassed for he quickly picked himself up, replaced the chair and seated himself and pretended as though nothing has happened.
My first reaction was concerned if he was hurt but the sight of him on the floor was so funny that it almost drove me to burst out laughing. However, out of courtesy for a senior, I stifled myself and continued with my work as if nothing has happened. One thing for sure - after the incident, he changed his “habit”. ![]()
