It Takes All Kinds To Make The World
Or as the Chinese saying goes “One type of rice breeds a hundred different kinds of people”
I was at my local Pos Malaysia Bhd branch office to pay the monthly utilities. Queuing infront of me in the Post Office was this woman who was busy fumbling into her handbag, presumably getting the money or bills or whatever necessary ready. (It’s also my practice to have everything ready in order not to hold up the queue). Suddenly she turned around and said “sorry”.
My spontaneous response was a smile with a surprised look.
Well, probably she felt her hand knocked me during her “search”.
In this local Post Office branch it was a single line queue system with 3 counters serving. So once any of the counters was free, the next in line would move in to be served. When it was her turn, she was still standing in the queue so I alerted her to move to the free counter.
Now the interesting part began. At the Post Office counter, she placed her handbag on the ledge, then slowly started digging into it for a full minute before dishing out a bill and gave it to the Pos Malaysai Bhd cashier. Then she repeated the process to fish out the money:roll: (I thought she had prepared herself while queuing as she was so busy with her handbag earlier on.) From where I stood I could see that the Post Office cashier, who was a young lady, was trying to be very patient waiting for her. After getting back the processed bill and her change, she was still standing at the counter, taking her own sweet time to put everything into her handbag.
Leaving that woman to carry on with her “packing”, the Pos Malaysia Berhad cashier waved me over as I was next in line. However, just when I was about to put my bills on the counter, that woman suddenly pushed another bill on the counter! Apparently she’s not done yet so I stepped back into the queue.
The queue was building up inside this Pos Malaysia Bhd Branch office and people were getting impatient and irritated by her inconsiderate manner. She would have everyone’s tolerance and empathy if she were a frail old lady but coming from a middle aged healthy young woman was just too much for anyone to stomach.
And I doubt any right thinking person would engage in such selfish and disgusting act of taking out the bills one by one and holding up the whole world.
Unable to hold her peace anymore, the Post Office cashier told her to hand in all her bills together instead of doing it one by one (which I felt was totally justified). Instead of being apologetic, she snapped at the Pos Malaysia Berhad cashier accusing the cashier of being rude and scolding her. The woman then stomped up a commotion, demanding to see the Pos Malaysia Bhd Branch Manager.
I sympathised the cashier.
As soon as I was done with my business, I left the Post Malaysia Berhad branch office
so I didn’t get to see the finale. Anyway, it seemed to me that the woman could be a bit off in the head. Normal people don’t act this way but then again……….there are lots of weirdos around these day! ![]()
