Carrefour should Make Raw Deals into Fair Deals
Well, Carrefour’s at it again!
The following items advertised in the Carrefour Big Deal flyer were supposed to be valid from 22 Dec 2005 until 2 Jan 2006 :
i. Dilmah Premium teapot bag (per pack of 100’s) at RM8.50 each
ii. Elena broom - hard with handle at RM4.90 each
On Dec 26, we went to the Carrefour store at Jalan Peel, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur to pick up some groceries plus the above offer items. Once again, as if becoming the norm, both the above items were no where to be seen in the entire Carrefour hypermarket despite being just the 4th day of the 12 days promotion.
In fact there wasn’t even a notice on the hypermarket shelf to advise customers that the items were out-of-stock. Whose fault? The store’s inefficiency in not ordering enough stocks or Carrefour’s stock management is such a mess or their floor staff’s failure to stock up the shelves. Whatever the reason, it definitely reflects badly on the store manager.
Priority should be given to all advertised items in the Carrefour Big Deal flyers to ensure they are well-stocked and made available on the hypermarket shelf during the promotional period (otherwise what’s the use of having briefings by Carrefour’s department heads to their floor staff every morning before opening. Sheer waste of time and resources!)
An occasional slip-up could happen and be excused, after all to err is human. But recurring once too often definitely calls for some remedial action unless these are the business standards and attitude of Carrefour hypermarket.
Apparently Carrefour sets penalties to their suppliers on non fulfillment of orders. Well, how about Carrefour come up with a Fair Deal - “let customers do unto Carrefour what Carrefour wants to do unto their suppliers”. ![]()
