Surprise Surprise
Last year, when we were at our regular tea shop, we saw this cute travelling tea set that came with a gai bei, 6 tiny white tea cups, tray and cover all in matching white porcelain plus a tea towel, all neatly packed in a case. We thought it would be quite a handy set for enjoying kung fu cha during outings or picnics.
The attractive price tag helped us made the buying decision. But since then the opportunity had not risen to warrant its opening ceremony so it was sitting pretty on the shelf, still waiting. Moreover, lately due to health reasons, I was temporarily barred from my regular tea sessions.
When I came in from the kitchen today, I was surprised to see the travelling tea set on the dining table. Thinking that my better half wanted to take pictures of the set, I just went about doing my work. Then I noticed him taking out the can of Lung Jing tea leaves followed by a flask of water….Yeah! it suddently dawned on me that I was out from my tea quarantine.
My better half took one hard look at me and shook his head, muttering that he has created a tea monster. I supposed the expression on my face totally betrayed my feelings! Well, it didn’t matter - I was only too eager to enjoy that great cuppa tea.
Probably only someone who love tea as much as I would understand the kind of enjoyment and satisfaction derived from sipping and savouring a good tea with an equally complementary set of tea ware in a relaxed mood.
Little wonder why Lu Yu the Tea Saint chose to forsake his fame and fortune for the pursuit of his tea quest.
